About Nonviolent Communication
Marshall Rosenberg believed that it is our nature to enjoy giving and receiving in a compassionate way, from the heart. He explored questions such as:
- What disconnects us from this natural compassion, leading us to judge others or act in ways that harm?
- What allows some people to stay connected to their compassionate nature, even in challenging situations?
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) offers both practical tools and a way of relating to ourselves and others that supports this connection.
Basic Training
5 Sessions, 2 1/2 hours each or 12 1/2 hours in total
In this training, you will learn:
- How certain language patterns can distance you from your natural compassion
- Ways to communicate authentically and stay connected with others
- Methods to express yourself without judgments, criticism, blame, or demands
You will explore Marshall Rosenberg’s four steps for building compassionate connection: Observation, Feelings, Needs, and Requests.
You will also dive into the power of empathy and practice using these tools through role-playing scenarios. You will experience how Nonviolent Communication is best learned through direct application.
Advanced Training
5 sessions, 2 1/2 hours each (12 1/2 hours in total)
This training is designed for people who have completed a basic Nonviolent Communication course and want to deepen their practice in real-life situations. Over the course of the sessions, you will learn how to apply NVC more fluently and explore what becomes possible when you bring it into everyday life.
You will learn how to:
- Listen in a way that helps others feel truly heard and understood (Deep Listening)
- Recognize and navigate moments where you experience demands or pressure
- Relate to guilt in a more liberating way
- Connect with a sense of ease and effortlessness in communication and action
- Explore needs through meditation
- Prepare for and practice real conversations you want to have in your life
- Give and receive appreciation in a way that deepens connection
- Work with and transform experiences of anger in a constructive way
